How Freckle Tattoos Are Done
1. Consultation
The first step is to go for a consultation. This is a crucial step as it allows you to understand better how the process works and what results you can expect. During the consultation, you can discuss where you want the freckles placed and the coverage. This allows your artist to define your skin tone and skin type and choose the most suitable shade of pigment.
2. Cleaning and pre-drawing
Once you arrive to get your new freckles, your tattoo artist will clean your face of any makeup or skincare remaiit’sit’s best to show up to your appointment without any makeup). Your skin must be clean before getting tattoos to avoid the risk of infection. Once your face is completely clean, your tattoo artist will use a cosmetic pencil to map yfreckles’les’ placement, shape and size.
3. Numbing
The tattoo artist will apply a topical numbing cream. After 15-20 minutes, the tattooing process can begin!
4. Tattooing
There are usually two techniques your tattoo artist can use while tattooing your faux freckles. Using a rotary machine, they will make a first layer of pigmented microdots before doing the second layer. If the artist uses a manual tattoo machine, many tiny dot-like incisions will be placed into the skin before the pigment is filled in. Usually, the wholeprocess ranges from 25-40 minutes.
5. Cleaning and aftercare instructions
Once your tattoo artist has finished the tattooing process of your faux freckles, the master will clean your face of any excess pigment. You will then be given aftercare instructions to help with the healing process!

The Different Freckle Tattoo Styles
1. Natural-looking freckles
These faux freckles are created to look the most natural, asymmetrically scattered across the nose and cheeks. The tattoo artist will typically use varying sizes and shapes to mimic the randomness of natural freckles.
2. Sun-kissed look
This type of permanent makeup recreates a pattern of the effects of sun exposure. These freckles are often placed around the nose and the high points of the cheeks.
3. Accent freckles
Some people want freckles tattooed in specific areas to enhance certain features, like under the eyes or on the cheekbones.
4. Rainbow freckles
While most freckle tattoos use several colours like brown and black pigment to reach that look of natural freckles, some people opt for bright rainbow colours like pink or blue.
